My name is Julie and I am an independent family historian, originally from London, I am now based in Hucknall in Nottinghamshire. I was inspired to begin seriously researching my own family tree when my first child was born. Looking at her, I realised that she was the product of generation after generation of my ancestors and I felt I wanted to be able to show my daughter her place in our vast family tree, every direct member of which had left some small trace of themselves on her genetic heritage. Researching my own family tree has lead me to family links as close to home as Norfolk, or as far afield as South Africa.  Like most people I can’t resist looking back at old family photos to try and see if I have eyes like Great Granny or a smile like my father! I would put the same level of enthusiasm and thoroughness into helping you to discover your own roots.
